Greetings Your Eminence and AFC Family!
The college is picking up momentum since the huge success of the sports. For your information we had our own Medal Presentations during our assembly in which we presented our athletes with their medals plus their certificates and prize money: $50 for Gold, $30 for Silver and $20 for Bronze. The money may be small but the gestures of gratitude to our athletes exceeds any monetary value!
Our Golden Midget girls (photo-5646) looked cute with their medals and certificates! The two Deputies did the honors of presenting the medals.
After sports we had the Inter-secondary Quiz competitions. Our Team battled against Tong High School in the first knock-out run. We fell short by 3 points, 18 - 15. We were very proud of our students as they were apparently a bit nervous at the start. THS won the 1st round 10 - 6 and we won the 2nd round 9-8. Had we continued for a another minute we would have beaten THS as they were getting pressured and nervous! We also found out that our F6 students were competing against their top 4 from F7!
Our brass band performed splendidly at the combined concerts with the Bands from the Military and Police last Wednesday night. Our brass band has also been personally invited by the Queen to be part of the celebrations for His Majesty's 60th Birthday in July. Also, the school Choir will be part of the combined secondary schools' choir for the same celebration.
Yesterday, our 1XV and our girl's rugby Teams had a joint training sessions with some army officers from Australia. There has been lots of remarks from parents and friends of the college that for quite some time now they see again the whole school buzzing with activities, right from St. Mary's campus to the rugby paddocks: rugby, soccer, netball, and soon volleyball!
My only simple analysis is that the whole college is getting tuned up to be 'One in Heart and Mind'! Teachers and students alike are finding renewed strengths and patriotic spirit in all our school activities. May it continue to be so!
Viva AFC!
