College Updates: Week 6 - Term 4

Salutation:

Greetings your Eminence and fellow Apifo'ou Family!

Admin Briefs

This is the final week of the Final Exams and we congratulate all our students for successfully completing these exams. The Levels 6 & 7 continue to revise and prepare for the external exams which will begin next Tuesday for the Form 6. The Form 7 students will begin on Monday even though it's a public holiday here in Tonga. Our Form 7 students follow the USP program which is guided by the timetables set from the main campus at Laucala Bay, Suva, Fiji.

Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors

The week was occupied by the workshops facilitated by the Pontifical Commission from Rome. The Diocese of Tonga and Niue is blessed to be the pilot country from the Asia/Pacific region. After the official welcome at Toutaimana on Tuesday evening, the Team conducted a series of workshops for the Administrators, Leaders, and prominent Civil Servants on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. The Regional Expert, Mr. Daniele Donnini, was very instrumental in guiding the participants on the importance of safeguarding minors and vulnerable adults in any environment.

Seen above is His Eminence emphasizing the relevance and urgency of the workshops for all the workers in the Diocese of Tonga and Niue.

Seen here are some of the participants engaged in group sharing.

Seen below is Fr. Valu and the two Head Prefects from Apifo'ou as they led the morning devotion at the workshop.

Final Exams

We're grateful to the teachers and students of Levels 1 - 5 as they wrapped up this week their final exams for the year 2024.

Bishop Patelisio Finau & Knight Sofele Kakala Hall

The Hall of the college will be the venue for the 465 National Form 7 students sitting their exams from November 5-15. The Hall is ready together with the amenities. These students are fortunate as they'll get to use the new desks of the college. Usually, the different schools bring their own desks and chairs but we are ready!

Prefects' Co-Patrol Project

You may have noticed in these past couple of years that there were less and less fighting and violence involving students of the schools on Tongatapu. The Principals' Association together with the Ministry of Education and Police created this Project. Every Friday Prefects from various schools co-patrol with the Police around town and sporting arenas. Seen below are our Prefects together with those from Toloa and 'Atele who gathered at the Police Station in town to get ready for the patrol.

CDT Mixed Netball Team

Some of the Apifo'ou teachers led by DP Ms. Laumanu Ma'afu joined a few from Toutaimana to set up a team to participate in the Tonga Netball Competitions.

The final took place last night and our esteemed Netters won the competition! Mighty congrats to Laumanu and her team!

Form 7 Final Exams

Part of the Form 7 Religious Education & Human Development exams was to write a letter to their parents sharing with them what they have learnt as they prepare to exit the college. My personal motto is for all students to exit with a profound sense of "Wholeness and Holiness"! Below are some excerpts from their letters which are indicative of the level of growth that our most senior students have indeed attained.

Conclusion

May I extend to you all our sincere gratitude for your prayers and support for our students in this time of exams. Please keep our Levels 6 & 7 students in the coming weeks in your prayers as they'll sit their external exams.

On this Memorial of all our deceased on All Souls Day, we fondly remember the late Mrs. Makalita Kiutau 'Otumuli and all the Apifo'ou Family members who have gone before us. May they continue to Rest in Peace until the Lord returns on the Last Day.

VIVA AFC!
