Salutation:
Warm greetings Your Eminence and fellow Apifo'ou Family!
Admin Briefs
This is the last week of revision before we embark on our Mid-Year Exams which will begin on Monday. The week has been eventful. Apart from the revision and night studies, there were lots of extra-curricular activities here at the college. The Blood Donation to the Hospital has been highlighted in the local media since AFC played a prominent role in it. Following from the 47km walk last week, 16 teachers volunteered to donate blood. Meanwhile, a Steering Committee has been formed to oversee the 'Walk and Donate Blood for Life' project. This consists of medical officers from the Ministry of Health, prominent individuals from the government, and the Apifo'ou Family. Essentially, we would like the project to be led by the officials from the Vaiola Hospital while we ourselves will render support from behind the scene.
The Weekly Eucharist
The college continues to celebrate the Eucharist every Friday. It's a most fitting way to wrap up each week and to seek blessings upon our various sporting teams.

Walk and Donate Blood for Life
This project has gained momentum at the national level. The Apifo'ou Family's contribution to the project has been praised in the local media. For us, we are merely carrying out the mission of Jesus, through Mary's way!

Nursing Students
As mentioned in the previous updates, Apifo'ou is the first college to host the nursing students from the hospital as part of their Practicum. The fact that the college has a clinic operating like a Health Center makes these nurses' tasks so much easier.

Voice against Violence!
The NRL Tonga in partnership with Apifo'ou have conducted classes at the college, especially with our Levels 3 since last year. This culminated in the installation of a Sign Post at the main entrance from the seaside. This sign post was unveiled and blessed yesterday. Our student 'Aleki Siale featured prominently on the banner. 'Aleki is doing very well at the Cowboys NRL franchise in north Queensland and the good news is that he may be playing for the Senior Grade next year. Malo 'Aleki e kataki.

Sitani Paulo Trophy
Yesterday, Takuilau and 'Apifo'ou Senior rugby teams played for the late Sitani Paulo's Trophy. The trophy was won by AFC last year and this year as well. Both teams and officials had a shared meal after the game before they returned to Takuilau. The widow, Selina Kiola and the family were all present. The Hon. Minister Seventeen Toumo'ua presented the Trophy to the winning captain Solo Halaifonua from AFC. It was really wonderful to see both teams played in the spirit of the game and the meals afterward. Indeed, our Catholic identity is affirmed in the process.

Tonga Traditional Rituals
The Form 6 students conducted their presentations of traditional rituals as part of the Internal Assessments. This is a vital component of their learning which also provides opportunities to score well prior to the external exams.

Special Visitor
A special visitor to Apifo'ou on Wednesday from Fiji, Archbishop Peter Loy Chong, paid us a surprise visit! It was great catching up with His Grace and friend Tamiano.
Seen here is Archbishop Peter and the Committee about to prepare the awareness concert for Climate Change scheduled to be held while the Pacific Leaders Forum will have their meetings here in Tonga in August.
